What is the High Pressure Gas Safety Act? |

The High Pressure Gas Safety Act (the “HPGS Act”) is the law which aims to regulate the production, storage, sale, transportation and other matters related to the handling of high pressure gases, their consumption as well as the manufacture and handling of their containers and to encourage voluntary activities by private businesses and the High Pressure Gas Safety Institute of Japan for the safety of high pressure gases with the purpose of securing public safety by preventing accidents and disasters caused by high pressure gases.

The Act on the Securing of Safety and the Optimization of Transaction of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (the “LPG Act”) stipulates the ordinance with regards to the sale of LPG to General Consumers, etc., sales locations, and the Safety Operations thereof.
Although related to LPG, matters such as LPG terminals and filling plants, storage tanks for consumption, structural standards for containers, and distribution (transport) of containers are regulated by the High Pressure Gas Safety Act. |
