High Pressure Gas

コンテンツ
Reference Clauses of the Act : Art. 2

It means gases to which the provisions of the Act apply. High pressure gases shall be classified according to their current state as compressed gases and liquefied gases, which are defined as follows. Moreover, pressure means gauge pressure.

(1) Compressed gas (except for compressed acetylene gas)
Gas falling under any of the following items:

(i) compressed gas whose pressure is not less than 1 MPa at its normal operating temperature and whose pressure is not less than 1 MPa currently (Gas A shown in the drawing below); or

(ii) compressed gas whose pressure is not less than 1 MPa at a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius (Gas B shown in the drawing below; Note that Gas B is also high pressure gas when its pressure is less than 1 MPa.)

(2) Compressed acetylene gas
Gas falling under any of the following items:

(i) compressed acetylene gas whose pressure is not less than 0.2 MPa at its normal operating temperature and whose pressure is not less than 0.2 MPa currently (Gas A shown in the drawing below); or

(ii) compressed acetylene gas whose pressure is not less than 0.2 MPa at a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius. (Gas B shown in the drawing below; Note that Gas B is also high pressure gas when its pressure is less than 0.2 MPa.)

(3) Liquefied gas
Gas falling under any of the following items:

(i) liquefied gas whose pressure is not less than 0.2 MPa at its normal operating temperature and whose pressure is not less than 0.2 MPa currently (Gas a shown in the drawing below); or

(ii) liquefied gas whose pressure is 0.2 MPa at a temperature of not more than 35 degrees Celsius (Gas b shown in the drawing below; Note that Gas b is also high pressure gas when its pressure is less than 0.2 MPa.); and

(iii) of liquefied gases other than those set forth in the preceding two items whose pressure is more than 0 Pa at a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, liquefied hydrogen cyanide, liquefied methyl bromide, and liquefied ethylene oxide (specific liquefied gases); moreover, the Act does not apply to liquefied methyl bromide outside facilities for production.

<State names>
High pressure gas is classified according to its current state as compressed gas or liquefied gas. Regarding the same variety of gas, whether the gas is classified as compressed gas or liquefied gas depends on its current state (e.g. compressed oxygen or liquefied oxygen).

From this, except for the high pressure gas falling under item (3), (iii) of the above description, high pressure gas can be said to be a name of not a substance but a state.
In addition, liquefied petroleum gas means gaseous and liquid petroleum gas.
